Upcoming events

Just thought I would let you know what my family is up to. Of course we have the big event of this year with Emilys wedding. She will be married on March 6th in the St George Temple, with the reception following in Cedar City, Utah. Looking forward to seeing everyone that can make it. Hope it is as beautiful as Jennifers was in New York and Salt Lake. Then Larry and I are meeting in San Antonio Texas to attend the Lakers/Spurs game. I had bought the tickets for John for Christmas but he has decided to not fly anymore so Larry it is! I always have a great time with Larry. I know Stephen graduates in June and will attend that. Darleen will let me know exact date. Then the family reunion in Las Vegas. We still don't have a lot of details about that. I know we have set the date the weekend after Labor Day. Want to travel to Grand Canyon and ride down to the bottom. Will keep you updated. For those of you that cannot come to Vegas, you have the Morgantown Christmas Parade to plan for. We will be in the parade this year. What a great time we had. Larry will update the sleigh and I'll let everyone know of the costumes. Please, let me know what you all think of these plans. The Christmas parade is the first Saturday in December. Would like for the Taylors to participate in the festival of trees as well. This is immediately following the parade. Will let you know more details later. Anyway, thats a brief summary of upcoming events. Let me know what you have planned and maybe we'll get Jennifer to create a Taylor Calendar. Up for it Jennifer!

And now the rest of the story....

Sure I remember . Let me tell you what happened next. David or I suggested that we take a piece of grass string (Remember grass string?)and each of us sit on opposite sides of the car and pull the windshield wiper across the windshield. What great memories.

Broken Windshield Wipers

This story is probably only going to be of interest to me, Janeen, and David. We always start these stories with "Remember the time...?". Well, remember the time we were leaving the fairgrounds and the windshield wipers wouldn't work? I can't remember why we were there. It could have been the fair was in town or one of Dad's ballgames. Mom was driving the old white station wagon (the one with the crushed right passenger door), it was raining, and the windshield wipers wouldn't work. Mom had to drive home with her head out the window so she could see. Picture Mom driving, head out the window, a free hand wiping the inside windshield with a cloth because it kept fogging up. I don't remember much of the drive except leaving the fairgrounds. I was so embarrassed...I so didn't want anyone to see us! Janeen has more memories of it as I'm sure does David.

I thought of this today when I took Stephen to pick up his car at the repair shop. It was pelting ice cold rain, we were two miles from home, I was following him. I noticed he was driving a little erratically and was sticking his head out his window so I called him on his cell. I asked him what was wrong. He answered in such a laughing way, "My windshield wiper fell off!" He said he was sticking his head out the window and trying to follow the lines. I knew it was dangerous and thought about having him pull over but...we were close to home and he was doing such a good job! He handled it well. His head was soaked when we got home. I couldn't help but laugh at the situation...thinking of three kids so many years ago watching Mom steer and wipe. Not really sure why she had to get the condensation off the inside window...she wasn't looking out of it anyway!

The Van Durens

So, I guess that I will be the first to post on this blog. Sorry if I am stealing anyones thunder, but I believe I may be one of the few who know this blog even exists.

It has been far too long since I have been to Kentucky. This is sad, as I miss everything about it! Plus, Matthew (new husband) has never been to Kentucky, but I think would enjoy it greatly! He served a church mission in South Carolina and loves the south. Plus, this way I can finally tell Uncle David that I know where my husband is!

I got married on April 26th, 2008. Almost one year! We are living in Salt Lake City, UT for the time being. Matthew is going to school to become a nurse. He is very excited. He also works full time, which makes him crazy, but it will hopefully pay off soon. I am just working as an office manager. Our jobs just pay the bills. Im not going to school right now, but hope too once we put Matthew through.

I miss everyone! I enjoyed looking at the reunion pictures, wishing I was there. Stay well and keep in touch. Love, Matt and Jenn Van Duren

HELLO TAYLOR FAMILY!

Hey everyone near and far!

After some discussion, it was deemed a good idea to have the Taylor family enter the blog world. The best part about blogging is the keeping-in-touch part. As long as there is a computer with internet access, we can check in with each other, share news, events, and stay in touch!

One rule for Blogger is that every administrator have a Gmail account. Now, creating an account is easy (go to gmail.com and click on "create and account", its free). But for those of us who do not want another addition to the e-mail accounts we already have, I am thinking of just creating one gmail account and giving everyone the password to log in as an Admin. I will have to ponder the pro's and con's and get back to you. Any suggesstions or concerns, please let me know.

Share this address (http://kytaylors.blogspot.com) with all the family you can think of! We are all so spread out accross the country... Nevada, Utah, Indiana, Virginia, New York, Georgia, Tennessee (I am probably missing some states) and of course, our home base of Kentucky.

Please dont be afraid to ask me any questions you have regarding this blog. Im happy to answer any of them.

Well, there you have it folks. Its official. The Taylors have a blog.

"Ya'll come back now, ya hear!"
